80 Nations

Embracing Diversity, Celebrating Unity

80 nations on one campus. 80 faces. 80 life stories. This inspired us to launch the project `In 80 Nations Around the World´ in 2020, based on the famous book by Jules Verne. By now, our DIT family has grown to over 100 nations. This degree of diversity is probably unique in the German higher education landscape. All the more reason to give the nations a face, a voice. As different as they are, they all have something in common. A sense of belonging, the pursuit of happiness, appreciation and love. This is what unites us all and makes us a family. Sometimes, of course, differences are also part of it. They are the icing on the cake and give us the opportunity to grow together.

The aim of this book is to portray people from our international university family. One face, one story for each nation. Because it is people who bring life to the campus and who contribute to an open, tolerant and diverse environment. In reading these stories, we also rediscover ourselves. We can see the differences that have shaped each of us in this project, but also what unites us all. After all, we are all human beings with the same human needs.

A quick note on the content: As the filming and photography took place during and towards the end of the Covid era, it was unfortunately not possible to portray all nations.
