Making fun memories in Pfarrkirchen

For Svetlana, home is a feeling, not a place. Even though Pfarrkirchen is much smaller and has fewer entertainment options, she loves it. As well as the beautiful nature, the friendly people, the focus on the environment and sustainability, she loves that it is close to Passau, Munich, the Czech Republic and Austria.

Svetlana has even picked up a few Bavarian phrases. Her favourite so far is: “Hau di hera, samma mehra”, inviting you to join a group of people. She has already made a few friends here and even some fun memories with one of them. During a walk to the Rottauensee in the summer, they were surprised by a hailstorm, hitchhiked home, cleaned the balcony and then made mojitos with the ice left over from the hailstorm.

The ECRI is special to Svetlana. She describes it as very unique, supportive and innovative. She attributes the family-like atmosphere to the culturally diverse community. She loves that the professors teach you to think outside the box and leave your comfort zone in order to grow personally and professionally. She plans to pursue a PhD after graduation.
