Connecting with Bavarian warmth and making a home at the ECRI

Thamsanqa has grown to love the Rottal-Inn region and would like to stay here if he gets a job in the area. He has already picked up a few Bavarian words and phrases that he now uses in his everyday life. His favourite word so far is “Servus” because it works in every situation in Bavaria, whether you are meeting someone and want to say hello or you are parting ways and want to say goodbye.

At the ECRI, he likes the family atmosphere and the friendliness in general. Another thing he likes about the campus is that people are used to working and cooperating with others, which is very important when people from all over the world come together in one place.

One thing that Thamsanqa really misses about home is the food. His favourite dish is called “Sadza Nemuriwo”. Sadza is a staple food in Zimbabwe and is usually eaten with vegetables and meat. Thamsanqa´s favourite version of sadza nemuriwo is made with pumpkin leaves and is very healthy.
