Finding a new home in the heart of Rottal-Inn

Home is a state of mind according to Dimitri. He has always felt that Western Europe is his home. He even speaks the Austrian dialect he picked up when he lived there, which led to funny situations when talking to people who only speak Hochdeutsch. Dimitri also likes the Bavarian dialect. His favourite phrase is “Basst scho”, which he describes as the Bavarian version of “Hakuna Matata”.

He enjoys the Rottal-Inn region and says that everyone here is extremely friendly. It surprised Dimitri how simple, smiley and kind people are. Bavaria really has a big warm heart. That´s why he advises anyone coming to the region to build meaningful relationships with the people.

Originally from Athens, Dimitri is used to hot and sunny weather, which contributes to fresh aromatic fruits and vegetables. Since he is passionate about food, he misses the sunkissed agricultural products as well as fresh seafood. A dish he cannot find here is Kalamarákia, fried squid. The Greek way of serving small appetisers in restaurants, where everyone sits around a table, eating and drinking wine, is something the people of Pfarrkirchen should try, he says.
