Building friendships through sports

Volleyball, swimming and badminton – you can do all of these sports and more in Pfarrkirchen. Wey has tried them all out and recommends joining the sports programmes offered by the university and taking part in the sponsored classes. Through sports, he was able to make friends quite easily. The small campus helped as well.

He describes the relationships between professors and students as close, friendly and supportive. It is also a great opportunity to meet people from different countries and learn about different cultures. Staying open-minded and accepting differences are his main values to find international friends at the ECRI.

He also enjoys the natural environment of Pfarrkirchen, as it is quite different from the concrete environment he was accustomed to in Malaysia. The contrast between his home in Malaysia and Pfarrkirchen is quite significant.

In his transition to Germany, Wey worked as a student assistant and improved his German by practicing in this position. He is not sure whether he wants to stay in Germany or move somewhere else. For him, it all depends on the job that he can find.
