Turgut's funny misunderstanding

Turgut loves his new home in Pfarrkirchen for the peace and quiet it gives him. However, he still misses his friends and family. He´s found many great restaurants here, but still can´t find Turkish food that´s as good as back home. And although the Bavarian countryside is as beautiful as the Turkish one, it´s not the same without his loved ones.

At the ECRI, Turgut likes going to the cafeteria because it has delicious food and is a great place to relax, meet friends or study and chat with classmates. Another thing he likes about the campus is that students own what they do. Turgut owns everything he does because he believes it´s important to take responsibility for your choices and to learn from your mistakes.

His favourite Bavarian word is “Servus”. When he first heard it, he thought people were saying “Zeus”, the name of the Greek god of thunder, to greet each other. Turgut
thought it was funny, but then he learned the real meaning and now he thinks it´s a great word. It´s a friendly and informal greeting that can be used in any situation.

In addition to his studies, Turgut works part-time as a pizza baker. This job has helped him improve his German enormously and has given him a deeper understanding of German culture.
