Course Content

The perfect intersection

With this study course, the Deggendorf Institute of Technology has succeeded in closing an important gap in the training of future managers and coordinators in the health, social and rescue sectors. The focus of the course is on building a bio-psycho-social understanding - the basis for the modern orientation of health care, the development of social security systems and, last but not least, the basic understanding of human life and behaviour.

Central building blocks for the realisation of this objective are classical business and economic methods, scientific methods, knowledge of political and socio-political framework conditions, the critical examination of the topics digitisation, sustainability and ethics.

A further focus and special feature of this course is the emphasis on psychosocial competences, counselling and mediation competence as well as an attitude towards interdisciplinarity.

Skill Areas

With the help of the module Individual Health Management, students acquire knowledge, abilities and skills which, through their own experience, enable them to maintain a health-promoting and preventive lifestyle in their lives and to enable other people to adopt such a lifestyle, i.e. to know and be able to reflect the scientific principles of the IGM (salutogenesis vs Pathogenesis; adaptation physiology with health and disease model, basic physiological functions of physical health; basic psycho-cognitive competencies of mental health, chronophysiology); but also know and be able to reflect the general basis of health promotion and prevention, scientifically, politically and socio-politically.

Part 1: Occupational health and safety
The module is linked to the training as safety officer in order to be able to implement occupational safety measures on site in a company and to be available to later employees and managers for questions and support. Linked to this is a clear idea of the role as a safety officer and the position in occupational health and safety. You know which internal and external actors you can work with and who is responsible for what.
In terms of content, there are selected occupational health and safety topics which enable graduates to proceed systematically in their work, to sharpen their awareness of hazards and stresses at the workplace and to successfully draw attention to them in discussions with superiors, employees and trainees or participants.

Part 2: Company health management: personnel and organisational development
The fundamental aspects of the topic of company health management and occupational safety are introduced and the significance of the necessary complexity for the development of sustainable systems becomes clear and understandable. Through a differentiation of different perspectives and needs of specialist areas, it is intended to learn to take on a control function in interdisciplinarity.
The scientific, legal and socio-political interrelationships are decisive for this as the basis for a system-theoretical development process. In the practical part of this module, scientific analyses of companies on health and hazards are interpreted and suitable interventions are identified.
For a realistic implementation, the methodology of moderation or mediation of interdisciplinary groups is introduced and tested in practice.

Rescue, civil protection, mountain rescue, air rescue (international disaster relief)
