TH Deggendorf, TH Rosenheim

On 14 July 2025, Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences and Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences were granted the right to award doctorates for the establishment of the
Doctoral Centre ‘Promoting Research and Innovation for Sustainable Multidisciplinary Approaches in Health’ (PRISMA Health).

The joint doctoral centre is coordinated primarily by Deggendorf University of Applied Sciences and has a specific thematic focus.
The academic staff brings together research-intensive professors from various faculties at both universities of applied sciences.

The doctoral centre is currently being established. The plan is to be able to admit the first doctoral candidates during the summer semester of 2026

range of topics

PRISMA Health brings together four core research areas: biopsychosocial research, healthcare practice, professional and educational research, and digitalisation and medical technology transformation. These areas examine both individual and systemic health factors through an integrative approach.

Through inter-university collaboration within the PRISMA Health doctoral centre, the focus is placed on the field of health, with its complex challenges and the significant potential in terms of social, economic and professional imperatives.

The PRISMA Health doctoral centre is currently being established, so unfortunately we are unable to accept applications at this time!

Information on the structured PhD programme (currently being prepared)

The care agreement must be submitted at the time of application.

A list of publications must be submitted when the doctoral programme begins.

Under the structured PhD programme in accordance with PromO, it is necessary for meetings to take place regularly (at least once a year) between supervisors and PhD candidates. During these meetings, a brief summary of the steps taken is drawn up jointly, along with a revised work plan if necessary. Once the meeting or meetings have taken place, confirmation that they have been held must be submitted to the THD Graduate School via Primuss (see guidelines)

  • Confirmation of submission
  • Template for the annual meeting (for your own records)

The presentation of the interim report will be governed by a specific procedure and will take place at an early stage of your project as part of a colloquium organised by the PRISMA Health Doctoral Centre.
General information

  •     The interim report is intended to provide an opportunity to receive feedback on the process so that any necessary changes can be incorporated: the examiners will be asked to evaluate the doctoral project and assess whether the plans for the remaining period until the submission of the thesis are convincing.
  • If you intend to present your research proposal, please inform graduate-school@th-deg.de in consultation with your supervisor and suggest two names for potential reviewers. We will invite them and inform them when they need to prepare their review.

The courses can be taken at any time during the duration of the PhD programme. The relevant evidence can be uploaded to Primuss on an ongoing basis – but no later than when the PhD procedure begins (see guidelines). In principle, the courses can be attended at either of the two universities.

  • TH Degendorf
    • The four courses can be taken as part of the university certificate programme in ‘Research and Dissertation Skills’.
    • Summer Semester: Good academic practice and compliance, ethics and data protection in academia, university teaching and legal aspects / didactics and digital teaching
    • WS: Research Data Management
  • TH Rosenheim
    • On request

Dates, times, format (face-to-face, online, hybrid) and course languages (German, English) are listed on the website.

Courses you have already taken may also be recognised, provided the number of ECTS credits is the same.
You are responsible for completing the relevant courses during your PhD programme and for submitting the relevant evidence. This evidence will not be checked until the PhD programme commences.

Confirmation(s) of the contact hours completed can be uploaded to Primuss on an ongoing basis – but no later than when the doctoral programme commences – (see guidelines). Please note that the total number of contact hours required must be completed, not per semester.

You are personally responsible for delivering the relevant teaching and submitting the relevant evidence. The evidence will only be checked once the doctoral programme has commenced.

The supervision agreement must be submitted with the application.

An overview of publications must be submitted at the opening of the doctoral procedure.

As part of the structured doctoral programme in accordance with Section 10 PromO, it is necessary that regular meetings (at least once a year) are held between supervisors and doctoral candidates.
