    • With the degree course, participants acquire the ability to support political leaders in creating structures that lead to less bureaucracy, customer orientation and greater efficiency. target group

This Master's programme is designed for specialists and managers from public administrations who have completed their first degree. The students of the Master Public Management are among others:

  •     Treasurers, who face the new challenges in public administration and help to support the changes in the community.
  •     Managers who want to refresh their knowledge in public administration with practical experience and learn new management tools.
  •     Managers of municipal owned enterprises who want to expand their knowledge of optimal management between the boundaries of "economic efficiency and municipal interest".
  •     Employees from the private sector who want to equip themselves for a career in public administration with specific municipal knowledge.

Priority topics:

  •     Public business administration for strategic and operative control according to the guidelines of public management
  •     Management skills for the design of change processes involving the political decision-making level
  •     International / European aspects for dealing with tasks in an international context
  •     Coping with increasing regional disparities, intensifying national and international competition among municipalities and regions, while at the same time reducing the scope for action due to the strained public financial situation
  •     Internal modernisation of the administration
  •     Implementation of the New Management Model as a management approach in administrative practice. The Master's programme builds on the knowledge in the economic, administrative and legal disciplines acquired in the required course of study as well as on the experience gained in administrative practice
  •     Imparting the relevant specialist knowledge of public business administration in order to implement the change process in the administration

 Admission requirements

  •     Completed university degree (e.g. Dipl.-Verwaltungswirt (FH); Bachelor etc.)
  •     At least 1 year of relevant work experience after completion of the first degree
  •     Successful completion of the application procedure incl. orientation interview with the head of the study programme Prof. Dr. Konrad Schindlbeck

Application Master Public Management

Applications are accepted all year round. Places are limited to 15 participants. The application deadline for the start in September 2021 is 15 July 2021. If you are still interested in studying after the deadline, Corina Welsch will be happy to inform you about available places.

Apply online via the Primuss application portal for part-time degree programmes with the following documents:

  •     Letter of motivation (1 page, signed)
  •     Tabular curriculum vitae (signed) with passport photo
  •     Copy of the certificate of the first degree (official certification is only required upon enrollment, if not acquired at DIT)
  •     Proof of professional experience (at least 1 year) after completion of the first degree (confirmation from the employer or job reference)
  •     Simple copy of the university entrance qualification, e.g. school leaving certificate
