Dr. Rajendra Pratap Gupta is widely recognized as one of the foremost global voices in digital health and public policy. As Chairman of the Academy of Digital Health Sciences and former Advisor to the Union Health Minister, Government of India, he has played a defining role in shaping the future of health, education, and technology policy in India and beyond.
A pioneering thought leader, Dr. Gupta was instrumental in drafting several landmark national initiatives, including the National Health Policy, the National Education Policy, and the Viksit Bharat Abhiyan—the Government of India’s flagship mission for building a developed nation. His deep engagement in governance also includes crafting the 2014 election manifesto for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, encompassing strategic reforms across multiple sectors.
Internationally, Dr. Gupta’s expertise has been sought by leading multilateral organizations such as the United Nations, WHO, World Bank, ITU, FAO, ADB, and the World Economic Forum. He has also been invited to advise the governments of the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Finland, Norway, Algeria, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, and India, among others. Notably, he was invited by the Prime Minister’s Office of Bangladesh to assist in drafting the country’s National AI Policy.
At the global level, Dr. Gupta leads three Dynamic Coalitions at the United Nations Internet Governance Forum—on Digital Economy, Environment, and Digital Health. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the International Society for Telemedicine and e-Health (ISfTeH) and chairs the Commonwealth AI Consortium (Capacity Building).
A prolific author and speaker, Dr. Gupta has written five influential books, including the international bestseller “Digital Health – Truly Transformational,” regarded as one of the most comprehensive works in the field. He has delivered over 300 keynote lectures worldwide and was conferred the Global Impact Award by HIMSS (PCHA) in Boston (2018) for his outstanding contributions to digital health innovation.
